Meet the Team

Yessica Garcia Alvarez

Founder

My name is Yessica, and I am the founder of Alvarez Resiliency Therapy PLLC. As an immigrant from Mexico who grew up in Chicago, I have lived in several Chicago communities and witnessed firsthand the need for accessible social services, mental health care, and educational resources.

I founded Alvarez Resiliency Therapy PLLC to provide bilingual mental health services to individuals and families, with a commitment to making care more accessible and culturally responsive. We offer sliding-scale therapy and pro bono services to select patients to help reduce financial barriers to mental health care.

We are also committed to reducing mental health stigma within the Latino community by providing trainings, seminars, and educational opportunities that address the needs and priorities of community members. These initiatives include discussions about mental health, Know Your Rights training, parenting education, and other community-centered topics. Through these efforts, we strive to increase awareness, promote access to resources, and empower individuals and families to seek support and advocate for their well-being.

Isis Maritza De Jesus

Intern

Hi, I’m Isis M. De Jesus. I am a second-year Master of Social Work student at Northeastern Illinois University with more than seven years of experience working alongside youth and families on the West Side of Chicago.

Over the past year, I have also spent time living in Puerto Rico, which has deepened my connection to my culture, family, and community. As a first-generation college student who is proud of my Mexican and Puerto Rican heritage, I value creating a space where people can feel seen, respected, and understood.

My experiences have shown me how much culture, family, relationships, and access to support can shape the way we move through difficult seasons of life. I believe every person brings their own story, strengths, and experiences into the room. My goal is to meet clients where they are, listen without judgment, and support them as they work toward meaningful change.
